I made this ring out of an old disposable cutting board. Watering the pot is a good way to press the soil down so the roots make good contact with the soil. Air pockets are not good for plant roots.
I use my hemiplegic hand to hold the watering can still so it won't tip over as I fill it with the hose. I spill more dirt when working with one hand, but I have ways to make the mess disappear. I use a soft brush to sweep surfaces clean. I use the garden hose with the spray nozzle set on jet spray to wash dirt off my concrete patio. I don't mind the mess. I love feeling the earth with my fingers. Once again I learned that all anti-depressants don't come in a pill.
